After passing the CAPA (French bar exam), Julie Nauts spent over three years working for a renowned international video game publisher as a Legal Counsel. During this time, she was involved in issues relating to video game development (e.g. game content, title adoption, licensing, game engine, porting etc.), publishing and distribution.
Julie holds a Master II in Industrial Property Law from the Université Paris 2 Panthéon-Sorbonne.
Since 2024, she is an associate at Kern & Weyl and a consultant to CastaldiPartners as part of the IP Alliance.
Julie assists French and international companies in protecting, promoting and defending their intangible assets in various sectors such as video games and its derived products (soundtracks, figurines, literary and audiovisual adaptations), new technologies (NFTs, Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence), e-sport, audiovisual, on-line platform, advertisement and marketing (agency), IT components and equipments, and digital art, and with players of all sizes.
She advises clients on all aspects of the creation and exploitation of their works. She advises them on drafting and negotiating their contracts and represents them before all courts (civil, commercial and criminal).
Julie advises and represents clients in litigation, in particular on issues relating to intellectual property law (copyright, trademarks, designs) and commercial law (unfair competition, parasitism, breach of contract).
Julie has acquired and developed specific expertise and skills in the video game sector. She assists and supports numerous studios, video game publishers and digital artists on a daily basis, providing them with practical answers to all their legal issues, particularly in terms of video game creation, publishing and distribution. She has solid experience and an operational approach to advising and assisting players in these fields.
She occasionally teaches courses in copyright and trademark law at Gaming Campus, a business school specializing in video games.
